Each monitor sits on its own
anesthesia machine (anesthesia machine is not included) and analyzes patients
performance and anesthesia gases during a surgical procedure. Monitors use
SaraCapOR version 3.0 software, last upgraded Mar 9, 1993. Each unit does a
complete self check of all software, memory, hardware and solenoids on power
up., and then a calibration check. Continuously monitors levels of inspired and
Entidal carbon dioxide, mean airway oxygen, mean airway nitrous oxide,
respiration rate and inspiratory to expiratory ratio (I:E). In addition, the
monitor displays a pulse oximeter waveform, pulse rate, oxygen saturation and
other parameters. It store up to the last 9 minutes of patient data, which may
be reviewed as needed.
Each monitor also may act as a terminal to access another station, for example, checking on a patient in the recovery room while the anesthesiologist is still in the operating room.
