Blood reprocessor - $3,750

Salvages blood shed before, during, or after surgery. Recovers patient's own blood so that it may be re infused to him or her. This reduces or eliminates the need for banked blood. Salvages shed blood suctioned from a surgical wound in the OR, and from drainage tubes during recovery. Uses disposable, single-use plastic tubing set and a spinning centrifuge bowl (chamber), where red cells are separated from other components and washed.

Cell washing system - $1,475 each

List: $8,700 each. MedCon: EX. Haemonetics model 115 cell washing system. New in 1991, appear to have little use. Ruggedized for temperature range of -40 degrees Centigrade to + 75 degrees Centigrade, and may be stored in those conditions, as long as fluids are drained.

This unit is a continuous gravity flow blood cell washing system. It is for washing previously frozen red blood cells. This process is sometimes called deglycerolization, usually by a sequential dilution protocol. After thawing, the red cells are first diluted with 12% sodium chloride then twice with 0.9% sodium chloride- 0.2 % glucose, using the mixing platform for adequate mixing.
