Electrospray liquid chromatography unit - $7,500

List: $89,400. MedCon: G. Vestec model Electrospray LC-MS, model E200. This unit ionizes samples for mass spectrometry. It replaces or enhances gas chromatography (GC) as the source for samples for some applications. Basically it uses high voltage and high temperature to produce significant concentrations of intact molecules in the vapor phase.

It may be used with samples:

• containing nonvolatile components not readily suited to GC
• only amenable to GC after chemical derivitization
• where cleanup and separation from matrix presents problems for GC
• for which LC procedures are already available but GC methods are not

• no degradation of chromatographic performance
• no uncontrolled chemical modification of samples
• unambiguous molecular weight determination
• high sensitivity
• low background noise
• compatible with all chromatographic conditions, such as flow rates, buffers and compositions

Control unit features:

• power on/off switch
• vacuum control module: start, standby, operate, vent, and shutdown
• HV filament control module: emission voltage, filament-discharge switch
• vaporizer control module: temperature display in degrees centigrade, control, tip and balance switch, vaporizer compensation, balance adjust knobs
• heaters control module: digital display of temperature in degrees centigrade, vapor block cage lands selects which, with fine vernier controls for block, TH and lens
• repeller control module: digital display, voltage switch, polarity reverse switch
• overall control by an Edwards model 1105 controller

Unit has schematics, user manual, maintenance log and application notes included.

Unit appears to be missing vacuum pumps. However column and additional accessories appear to be complete.

Shipping weight is about 450 pounds. On castors.
