Electrospray liquid chromatography unit

Mass spectrometer- $27,500

msspec53.jpg msspec1.jpgList: $380,000. MedCon: G. VG Micromass model 7070 H mass spectrometer. Unit appears to be complete. Unit was removed in operational condition and then mothballed for five years. This unit is an excellent opportunity for a lower-cost research grade instrument for those willing to spend the time to calibrate and to the instrument. Basically, mass spectrometry permits unique identification of molecular formulas based on natural isotopic abundance. As this technique requires the volatilization and ionization of molecules, it becomes technically more difficult as the sample molecular weights increases.

We have shown the instrument in 2 sections:

  1. The control panel and support electronics and
  2. the instrument itself

Here is the instrument itself.

Rather than trying to document and describe each fixture on the instrument we have included some detailed photographs for your viewing. Here are a series of close-up shots of the actual instrument showing chambers, furnace and other details. Click on each of the small photographs to make them full-screen. Also shown are some small loose parts, and accessories, that come with the instrument. msspec54.jpg msspec55.jpg msspec56.jpg
