Microscopes-what a tool. I still remember my first view into a microscope, as a child of perhaps five or six years old. What looked like a empty water droplet, when placed under a microscope, suddenly was filled with teeming life, almost like looking into the night sky and seeing stars for the first time. Since then, we have used microscopes for mineralogy, surgery, blood work, urine observations, small-scale engraving, observation of surface finish, mineral identification, structural assessment, tissue assessment, polarized light stub studies, differential Crystal analysis, histology, pathology work, eye exams, splinter removals, bacterial observations, electronics work, the list goes on and on. what can we say - we like used microscopes.

This unit determines organic compounds by comparing an infrared scan with the IR response of known compounds through a database. Used for environmental studies because the EPA has produced such a database for over 100 pollutants specified in the Clean Air Act of 1990 . The microscope allows samples about 25 by 25 micrometers to be analyzed as compared with larger samples analyzed in a spectrometer with enclosed sample compartment.

With this setting, and using a 36 exposure roll of 35mm film you will have one exposure every 10 hours for 360 hours. Measures in either decimal inches or millimeters, with a reset button. Measurement is along long axis of detector head. Head is held in a Brinkman holder with 5 degrees of freedom:
